Description

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 15.75 x 19.5, June 12, 1879. President Hayes appoints John J. Coppinger as "Major of the Tenth Regiment of Infantry." Signed at the conclusion in ink by President Rutherford B. Hayes, and countersigned by Secretary of War George W. McCrary. The blue seal affixed at the upper left remains intact. In very good to fine condition, with some loss along the central horizontal fold.
