Handwritten letter to his important minister Maximilien de Béthune, Duke of Sully, in part (translated): "My friend, it is in favor of Mr. Soubise that I am writing you this note to tell you to allocate, in the first payment you make to the treasurer of my treasury, the sum of twelve thousand livres, which I have granted him for the raising of the light cavalry company that I have ordered him to form for my service." Henry refers to Henri de Rohan, Duke of Soubise (1574-1638), who belonged to the highest Breton nobility and was made a duke and peer. In 1604, he married Marguerite, the daughter of the future Duke of Sully. After the king's assassination, he became a fierce enemy of Cardinal Richelieu and was forced into exile.
