Description

ALS signed “George R.,” three pages, 4.75 x 7.5, Balmoral Castle letterhead, August 9, 1947. Handwritten letter to Mr. Jellicoe, ostensibly architect Geoffrey Jellicoe, in full: “The Queen & I have studied your working drawing & we both think that the result of your labour will be what we want. I have not yet heard from Captain Fellowes whether he has found a contractor to carry out the work at once but so far as I know any day after Sept. 17th will suit for starting the project. As you say the artificial mound is the most important part of the design which you must do yourself, & I suppose this will come on your return from Rhodesia. The rest of the work is really quite straightforward & can be done from the working drawing. Would you please get into touch with Captain Fellowes & find out about the Contractor.” In very good to fine condition, with light creasing.
