Description

ALS, one page both sides, 5 x 8, October 20, 1860. Addressed from Andover, Massachusetts, a handwritten letter to Richard F. Bond: “Your telegraphic dispatch and letter of yesterday announcing the sad news of your Brother's death was sent to me by express from Concord this evening – had not heard of his illness and infer that his attack must have been very sudden. Urgent engagements compel me to go to Concord by the first train tomorrow Mng and I fear that it will be utterly impossible for me to attend the funeral on Thursday – However, I shall make every effort to do so, and if I find it impossible, I will write tomorrow. Will you hand the inclosed to dear Charlotte, for whom my heart bleeds.” In fine condition.
