Archduke of Austria (1863–1914) whose assassination precipitated the start of World War I. ANS in German by Franz Ferdinand, one page inside a 3.75 x 7 card depicting his three children, no date. The archduke sends thanks for birthday wishes, in part (translated): "For the kind letter with the good wishes for my birthday, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and allow myself sincerely to convey my wishes in return: for happiness in the new year and for the holidays." In fine condition.
