Description

"In order not to succumb in what is often such an ugly little struggle with ugly little people, one must have the awareness that others stand at one’s side"

German politician and early leader of the Nazi Party (1892-1934), who, along with his younger brother Otto, was a leading member of the party's left-wing faction, which brought them into conflict with the dominant faction led by Adolf Hitler, resulting in Gregor's murder in 1934. The brothers' strand of the Nazi ideology is known as Strasserism. TLS in German,, one page, 8.5 x 11, March 17, 1926. Addressed from Essen, a letter to Eugen Munder, in full (translated): “My warmest thanks for your letter. Believe me, just as you feel it, so do I. In order not to succumb in what is often such an ugly little struggle with ugly little people, one must have the awareness that others stand at one’s side, indeed, people whose worth one values and whose friendship inspires pride. Only in this way can this kind of struggle be endured in the long run.

I have often felt deep, heartfelt satisfaction that you and your friends understand my work and my goals. And therefore I will continue in this work, even though a rather ridiculous mishap, though it ultimately turned out well, will probably keep me confined to bed for weeks. In the coming days I am to be transported back to my home. I am glad of this and hope that this enforced rest may, in the end, yield something positive for the future.

In this spirit, I also accept the pain as something determined in the greater scheme, Kismet, with a final purpose that is still unclear to me today. We shall see each other again in June at the midsummer celebration in Ebingen. Until then, I remain, with German greetings to you and your friends.” In fine condition, with file holes to the left edge.
