Highly regarded French painter (1830-1903), one of the leading figures of the impressionist movement, best known for his distinctive pointillist style. Original pencil sketch called 'Mendiant se lavant les pieds dans le riviére [Beggar washing his feet in the river],' accomplished by Camille Pissarro on an off-white 8 x 6 sheet, signed in the lower right corner with his initials, "C. P." Matted to an overall size of 13.25 x 11.75; the backing retains a label indicating that it was sold by Paris art dealer Andre Schoeller in October 1946. In fine condition.
