ALS signed “Henry W. Longfellow,” one page both sides, 4.5 x 7.25, January 12, 1881. Addressed from Cambridge, Massachusetts, a handwritten letter to English poet Harriett Stockall, in part: “I have just had the pleasure of receiving your kind letter, and your very graceful and generous lines addressed to me. I hardly need say how happy I am to accept this proffered dedication of your Poems and Sonnets in the new edition, which you intend to bring out in the Spring.” In very good to fine condition, with irregular toning, and a small area of paper loss to the bottom edge. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, hand-addressed by Longfellow.
