E. M. Forster’s A Passage to India was published in 1924 by Edward Arnold after more than a decade of intermittent work and two formative trips Forster made to India in 1912 and 1921. It was his first novel since Howards End (1910) and ultimately his final full-length fiction, long delayed as he struggled to capture the political and cultural complexity of British-Indian relations.
