Uncommon Christmas card from 1925, measuring 5.75 x 8 closed, featuring an image of the Japanese teahouse on the grounds of Rockefeller's 'Kykuit' estate, boldly signed inside in fountain pen, "John D. Rockefeller." Above is a secretarial dedication, "With highest regard for my distinguished kinsfolk," and printed holiday greeting: "With hearty Christmas Greetings and all good wishes for the New Year from John D. Rockefeller." In very good condition, with scattered creasing, a moderate block of toning, and light dampstaining to the lower corner. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, secretarially addressed to "Mr. & Mrs. B. F. Rockefellow, Canon City, Colorado."
The recipient, Rockefeller's cousin Benjamin Franklin Rockafellow (1835–1926), served in the Civil War, went West and fought Indians, and developed the Rockvale and Brookside mines in Colorado; for eight years, Rockafellow served as president of the Rockefeller Family Association.
