TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead, July 7, 1932. Letter to Seale Harris of Birmingham, Alabama, in part: "Many thanks for your telegram of July first which I regret having been unable to answer sooner. I appreciate very much the telegram which you sent. Everything turned out very well at the Convention and I believe that the situation looks very promising for our party this fall." In very good to fine condition, with scattered light soiling and staining.
The 1932 Democratic National Convention, held in Chicago from June 27th to 2nd, culminated in Franklin D. Roosevelt's nomination as the party's candidate for president. Roosevelt famously broke tradition by flying to the convention to deliver his acceptance speech, where he promised a 'New Deal' for the American people. In the subsequent election, he decisively defeated incumbent President Herbert Hoover.
