ALS signed “Charles,” one page, both sides, 7 x 9.25, personal ‘H.R.H. The Prince of Wales’ letterhead, November 15, 1984. Handwritten letter to Lady Marre, discussing the funding for several different projects and alluding to, in the closing lines, the recent birth of his second son, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. In full: “Thank you so much for your letter. 1) I would be willing for the fund to pay the full cost if you get an application for one of these vehicle conversions. I think it would be a good thing to do. 2) I like the idea of asking Donald Dempsey to suggest an organization in the north to supervise the mobile holiday home project if the fund pays for it. 3) I hope Michael Colborne [Charles' private secretary] has returned the recommendations to you. I'm afraid I have been swamped with paper and I can't keep up! 4) I think it would be splendid if the fund could provide money to buy necessary equipment for the M.S. research projects. This would probably be preferable to paying salaries. 5) Thank you so much for your kind congratulations. We are so thrilled.” Regally framed with cloth matting to an overall size of 14.25 x 16.5; a window to frame backing reveals the letter’s second page and signature. In fine condition. Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex was born one month prior on September 15, 1984, and was christened Henry Charles Albert David on December 21, 1984, at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. As the younger son of King Charles III and Diana, Princess of Wales, Harry is fifth in the line of succession to the British throne.
