Description

"Political writers always make the great mistake of assuming that they know the facts"

TLS signed “D. E.,” one page, 7 x 10.25, personal letterhead, June 16, 1964. Letter to Major General Howard Snyder at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in part: "Actually the comments made by columnists and editors concerning my trip to Cleveland were based upon misinformation or were concocted out of imagination—I am used to that kind of thinking and pay no attention to it. Political writers always make the great mistake of assuming that they know the facts in any particular incident and write accordingly. They are often the most ignorant individuals that I have had the misfortune of encountering." In fine condition. Accompanied by an unrelated 1953 TLS by Mamie Eisenhower, a note from Mrs. Robert Matter concerning a potential family relation to the Eisenhowers, and an unsigned photo of Eisenhower in office.
