William Lloyd Garrison

Journalist, editor, and social reformer (1805–1879) best known as one of the most ardent and influential abolitionists in the decades leading up to the Civil War. ALS signed “Wm. Lloyd Garrison,” one page, 5.25 x 8.25, November 18, 1856. Letter to Unitarian minister and fellow abolitionist T. W. Higginson. In part: “No time has yet been appointed for holding a State Disunion Convention in Worcester, and I cannot inform you when it will take place. We are to have a Non-Resistance Convention, in your city, on the 29th and 30th inst., which I hope you will be able to attend.” In fine condition, with stains along the left edge.
