American actress (1923–1965) who appeared in such classics as Forever Amber, Unfaithfully Yours, and A Letter to Three Wives. With the decline of her career in the early 1950s, she turned increasingly to alcohol and died in a house fire at the age of 41. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in blue ink “To Polly—Warmest Texas wishes to another Texas gal! Linda Darnell.” In very good condition, with scattered creases, light surface rubbing, mounting remnants to corner tips, and a bit of irregular ink adhesion to signature and inscription. A unique piece since Darnell has inscribed to her stunt double Polly Burson, a rodeo rider and pioneer stunt woman, who's resume included Vertigo, Some Like it Hot, and True Grit.
