ALS signed “Jim,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.25 x 7, On Board ‘Aquinta’ White Star letterhead, August 29. Letter to his wife Maddie. In part: “We are almost halfway across the Atlantic and encountering some heavy weather, the boat is rocking and pitching more than I thought possible for a boat of this length and width, but when we get out of a seat we wobble all around as if we were drunk…I have a fine bunch at our table we have great discussions. One is a chemist, one an editor, the other has not revealed his occupation, but he is a fine old methodist republican.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Naismith’s hand, postmarked September 1, 1936. In fine condition. Naismith is quite scarce in handwritten letters. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
