Inventor and founder of basketball. DS, signed “Jas. Naismith, 1635 Mass St. Lawrence” one page, 7.75 x 3.25, January 26, 1917. Promissory note promising to pay $100.00 to a Student Loan Fund. Signed at the conclusion by Naismith as endorser. In fine condition, with two vertical folds, one touching his last name, and two green cancellation stamps. Accompanied by a letter from an E. G. Smith sent to Naismith referencing the return of the note and the original mailing envelope addressed to Naismith.
