Vintage glossy 8 x 10.25 MGM portrait photo of Weissmuller wearing a suit and tie, signed and inscribed in black ink, "For Beatrice, from Johnny Weissmuller, 1932.” In fine condition, with scattered marks, and a few creases to the upper left corner.
Dated 1932, the portrait comes from a pivotal year in Weissmuller's career, just four years after he won his final two of five Olympic swimming gold medals and the same year he made his starring debut as Tarzan in MGM's Tarzan the Ape Man. The film's success launched a screen career that would see Weissmuller portray Tarzan in 12 features through 1948.
