Fantastic oversized 15.5 x 21 print of six classic 'Peanuts' comic strips featuring 'Astronaut Snoopy, signed and inscribed in the lower border in blue felt tip to astronaut William E. Thornton, "For Bill—Charles M. Schulz." Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 22 x 27.5. In very good to fine condition, with a few light creases, some minor soiling, and the plexiglass slightly loose within the frame.
Charles M. Schulz and his Peanuts character Snoopy became closely associated with NASA during the Apollo era, when Schulz allowed Snoopy to serve as a symbol of astronaut safety and mission success. The connection became especially famous with Apollo 10 in 1969, whose Lunar Module was nicknamed 'Snoopy' and Command Module 'Charlie Brown,' while NASA’s prestigious Silver Snoopy Award continues to recognize employees and contractors for exceptional contributions to human spaceflight safety and mission success. A fabulous association piece.
