Outstanding color satin-finish 13.25 x 11 photo of the Skylab space station on Earth orbit, affixed to its original 13.25 x 13.75 mount, signed on the mount in black ink by all nine crewmen from three Skylab missions: Charles Conrad, Joe Kerwin, Paul Weitz, Alan Bean, Owen Garriott, Jack Lousma, Jerry Carr, Ed Gibson, and Bill Pogue. Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 22 x 22.25. In fine condition, with the plexiglass slightly loose within the frame.
William E. Thornton was selected as a NASA scientist-astronaut in 1967 and contributed extensively to Skylab and Spacelab medical research, including serving as a physician crew member on the 56-day Skylab Medical Experiments Altitude Test. He was a member of the astronaut support crew for the Skylab 2, 3, and 4 missions, and principal investigator for Skylab experiments on mass measurement, anthropometric measurements, hemodynamics, and human fluid shifts and physical conditioning.
