Description

Alfonso's of Hollywood gun belt and holster presented by Steve McQueen

Steve McQueen's personally-owned brown leather gun belt and holster, gifted to photographer Barry Feinstein. Stamped on the reverse of the holster and belt by "Alfonso's Holster & Gun Shop," a famous North Hollywood purveyor of custom-fitted gun belts and holsters to the movie industry. In very good to fine condition, with general wear from use.

Steve McQueen’s cowboy roles helped shape his image as quiet, tough, and quick under pressure, with his gunslinging skills central to that persona. He first broke through as bounty hunter Josh Randall on Wanted: Dead or Alive, where his unusual sawed-off Winchester gave him a distinctive, fast-draw identity. In film westerns like The Magnificent Seven, McQueen’s steady hand, relaxed confidence, and economical movements made his gunplay feel natural rather than showy. Even as he moved beyond traditional westerns, that cool, controlled gunslinger presence remained a defining part of his screen appeal.

McQueen and Barry Feinstein were close friends as well as photographer and subject. Feinstein’s access to McQueen came from trust and shared interests, especially fast cars and motorcycles; that rapport let him photograph McQueen in unusually candid settings, from racetracks to the set of Bullitt to relaxed off-duty moments. The result was a body of images that helped preserve McQueen’s 'King of Cool' persona while also showing a more intimate, unguarded side.

Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the Estate of Barry Feinstein/Barry Feinstein Photography.
