Description

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 15.5 x 19.5, January 30, 1884. President Arthur appoints Charles Morton as a "Captain in the Third Regiment of Cavalry in the service of the United States." Signed at the conclusion in ink by President Chester A. Arthur, and countersigned by Secretary of War Robert Todd Lincoln. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light staining and foxing, and moderately heavy creasing at the top.
