If you do not have a car I could probably send for you." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in O'Keefe's own hand.
Georgia O’Keeffe first encountered New Mexico in the summer of 1929, finding in its mountains, deserts, bones, rocks, architecture, and austere landscape the source of a profound artistic renewal. She returned almost every summer, calling the region her “Faraway,” and in 1934, while recovering from a nervous breakdown, discovered Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu and soon made it her home. In 1945, she purchased a second property in Abiquiu—an abandoned, crumbling adobe hacienda with valuable water rights, three acres of land, and the now-famous patio door—and entrusted its four-year restoration to Maria Chabot. After settling Alfred Stieglitz’s estate in New York, O’Keeffe moved permanently into the renovated Abiquiu house in 1949.
