Description

French artist (1798–1863) who takes a place in the first rank of painters in the Romantic tradition and whose mastery of color and technique inspired both the Impressionist and Symbolist schools. ALS in French, signed “Eug. Delacroix,” one page, 5 x 7.5, no date. Handwritten letter to journalist Félix Feuillet de Conches, in full (translated): “I forgot to ask you the other day if you would be able to get me the regulations of the Society of English Artists. Answer me with a note to let me know if the thing be feasible so that I can reply to the people who are asking me for them. In advance please excuse my urgency.” In fine condition.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
