Wife of president James K. Polk (1803–1891) and first lady from 1845 to 1849. Scarce 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of an artist's portrayal of Sarah Polk, published by R. Poole of Nashville, signed at the bottom of the image in ink, "Mrs. James K. Polk." In very good to fine condition, with red staining to the signature area, and a small area of surface loss just touching the tail of the signature.
