ALS as president, signed "Sincerely, Ronald Reagan," one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, December 7, 1981. Handwritten letter to the Sisco family, "Miss Sam, Miss Bertha & Buzzy," in full: "It's that time of year again so Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! We'll spend Christmas here in Wash. far from our beloved California. Most of our family will join us here which helps a great deal. The enclosed is my Christmas greeting to you. With it comes my best wishes for your Christmas—may it be Merry & Bright." In very fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, accomplished in Reagan's own hand.
Reagan carried on an extensive correspondence with the Sisco sisters—Bertha and Samueline—and their mentally handicapped brother Joseph, nicknamed ‘Buzzy,’ sending them nearly one hundred letters, sketches, and photos between 1972 and 1987; Reagan was introduced to the family when he purchased goods from their leather shop in northern California.
