Description

TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” two pages, 7.75 x 10, Supreme Court of the United States letterhead, September 22, 1929. Letter to Clarence H. Kelsey of the Title Guarantee and Trust Company, in part: "I have had a pretty hard time this summer with three different troubles, but I am hopeful that no one of them is beyond remedy. I came through last year by the 3d of June in what I thought was excellent condition. I was unwise enough to go to Cincinnati to see my brother Charley, when it would have been very much better to come immediately to Murray Bay and then settle down here, for Charley came on to Murray Bay afterwards, and really had what was a good summer. I had trouble with my digestion and with my bladder, and have had a good deal of discomfort, but I am hoping that when I reach Washington, I shall be able to resume my work with care. We have had a good deal of work to be done during the vacation. I have just finished 148 cases, and there still remains about 90, which I hope to finish before the end of October." Double-matted and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 28.25 x 16.25. In fine condition, with heavy intersecting folds. Accompanied by the original receipt from B. Altman & Co.
