Hand-addressed and signed mailing panel, 4.5 x 7.25, addressed in Nightingale's hand to "Mrs. Harriet Martineau, The Knoll, Ambleside,” and signed below, "F. Nightingale, 9/9/63." Archivally mounted, suede-matted, and framed with a plaque and portrait to an overall size of 22.5 x 15. In fine condition.
Harriet Martineau (1802–1876) was an English social theorist considered to be the first female sociologist, remembered for her writings on politics, religion, and society. An interesting association piece between pioneering women of the 19th century.
