Color semi-glossy 8 x 10 photo of President Truman seated and smiling at his desk, affixed to its original 9 x 12 presentation mount, which is signed and inscribed in black ink, "Kindest regards to Brig. Gen. Robert Condon, Harry S. Truman.” In fine condition, with lightly trimmed edges to the mount. Although the photo is undated, the same image is cataloged at the Truman Presidential Library and Museum with an approximate date of July 1945.
Robert Emmett Condon (1896–1981) was an American military officer who served during three major conflicts (World War I, World War II, and the Korean War) and rose from private to major general over the course of his long career. In later life, he served as director of civil defense for New York City. Among his honors are the Legion of Merit (2), the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Bronze Star Medal.
