Description

Hand-corrected typed draft letter as president, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, August 22, 1956. Hand-corrected draft of a typed letter to the Mayor Dan Searle of Monterey, California, in part: "When I arrived in San Francisco, I found awaiting me your more than kind letter of welcome to the Monterey Peninsula…Mrs. Eisenhower and I are looking forward to our stay at Cypress Point." Eisenhower strikes through a couple lines, revising the letter in his own hand: "The crowd we found at the Monterey Station upon our arrival was more than cordial—the experience was heartwarming. I assure you of our deep gratitude to you and the citizens of the area." In fine condition.

From the Collection of Paul K. Carr, former UACC President and Noted Expert.
