As governor of Virginia, Monroe writes to the American consul-general at Paris

ALS signed “Jas. Monroe,” one page, 7.75 x 9.5, July 13, 1800. Handwritten letter to American diplomat Fulwar Skipwith, consul-general at Paris, in full: "Being requested by Mr. Dunlop of Port Royal to recommend to him some person qualified to take charge of a claim of his on the French govt., I have taken the liberty to mention you to him. I doubt not you will do justice to the confidence he may repose in you. He will explain the affr. fully for yr. information, to wh. refer you." In fine condition, with slightly irregular spotting toning.
