ADS, signed “Wm. H. Harrison, A.D.C.,” one page, 8 x 3.5, September 24, 1794. Handwritten "Return for Whiskey" for five men over two days, in part: "The Q. Master will issue ten rations of Whiskey on the above return." In fine condition, with trimming to the top edge, and paper loss to the bottom edge. Accompanied by an engraved portrait bearing a facsimile signature.
Harrison was just 21 years old and serving as aide-de-camp to General 'Mad' Anthony Wayne in the Ohio Indian Wars. Ten months later, he would be a signatory to the Treaty of Greenville, which ended the Northwest Indian War. In the treaty a coalition of Native American tribes, including the Ottawa, Potawatomi, Chippewa, Miami, and Shawnee, ceded a large area of midwestern land to the United States in exchange for goods valued at $20,000. Harrison would come to national fame nearly two decades later when he again fought the Native Americans, most prominently in a victorious effort over Tecumseh at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811.
