Description

Prominent enforcer, bagman, hitman, and burglar for the Chicago Outfit (1912-1971). Known as 'Milwaukee Phil,' he served as an underboss to Sam Giancana during the 1960s, and then as boss from 1967 until his imprisonment in 1969. ALS signed “Phil,” one page, 8 x 10.5, October 25, 1970. Handwritten letter from prison to childhood friend and mob associate Irwin Weiner, referencing his troubled son, Dominic. In part: "Here is hoping that this letter finds you and your family in the best of health and wealth. How about Dominic? What is happening I don't like what I saw, and the reports the one time that you brought him here I did not like what I saw, and your explanation of it the next time I saw you. And then worse when he came with Vito, then I understand the help was slipping him something. Well Irwin after given it great thought I believe Dominic is better off at Wesly where they know him ever since he was a little boy. And Doctor Marquart will treat him physically and get him mental treatment. Let Doctor Marquart call the shots. I am very much concern and worried. I get letters that Dominic lost his will to live and Dominic won't eat and there feeding him intravenously. Irwin this is my wish. You know how much I appreciate all you did and you are still trying." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Alderisio's own hand.
