Description

New York mobster (1904-2001) who was a high-ranking capo in the Genovese crime family, known for establishing casino operations with mob associate Meyer Lansky. ALS signed “Jimmy,” one page, 8 x 10.5, July 6, 1972. Handwritten letter to his wife, Florence Alo, written from prison. In part: "Happy to hear you had a good time with the kids. I imagine they had a swell time too. You didn't say whether you received my last letter. I think it got there while you were away. I think it is great that Carole got herself interested in a show. It should keep her busy while she is doing something she likes. I remember when we used to stay in the city. Even though the city was empty, it was so quiet and relaxing. I received a letter from Doc last week and he said he would be in touch with you. Surprised you haven't heard from him. He wrote kind of sad. He seemed up in the air about everything. He just didn't know what he was going to do, he couldn't stay in business and his give Ros what she wanted. I hope things straighten out for him and he is able to continue his practice. I am feeling pretty good and always trying to keep busy. The holidays are over. Had a sort of picnic in the yard and then saw a movie." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Alo's own hand.
