Letter declining a dinner invitation, in part: "I have stupidly promised to be present at some private theatre arranged by some friends of mine. It is a thing I loathe & I would very much rather dine with you, but I have promised—& I am to take a lady." In very good to fine condition, with light staining, foxing, and toning.
