TLS signed “D. E.,” one page, 7 x 10.25, personal letterhead, January 15, 1962. Letter to his former White House Chief of Staff, Major General Wilton B. Persons, in part: "I haven't heard a word from you for some weeks; I trust this means that whatever had you under the weather has taken its departure and that you are enjoying fishing and life in Palm Beach with your usual zest. At any rate, I want to wish you a Happy Birthday." He adds an interesting postscript, signed "D.," in full: "One of the nicest things of recent weeks was to realize that there was a State of the Union Message coming up and that I didn't have to prepare, work over it endlessly, and deliver it!" In fine condition.
