I am truly delighted to know that you have arranged matters in order to accept the Chairmanship of the New York City Committee of the United Defense Fund for the forthcoming campaign. I have written to Mr. Dumas and Mr. Smith in accordance with your suggestions. Once again, my appreciation of your willingness to undertake this important task.” Letter bears secretarial pencil notations.
