Adele Cutts

Second wife (1835–1899) of the eminent statesman Stephen A. Douglas, remembered for the Lincoln-Douglas debates during his 1858 senatorial campaign. Original 2.25 x 3.75 carte-de-visite full-length portrait of Cutts, signed and inscribed to her stepson on the reverse in black ink, “Robbie from his Mamma. To remind my boy of one who is always thinking of him.” In very fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
