Basketball’s founder pledges $100 to a student fund

Inventor and founder of basketball. DS, signed “Jas. Naismith, 1635 Mass St. Lawrence” one page, 7.75 x 3.25, January 26, 1917. Promissory note promising to pay $100.00 to a Student Loan Fund. Signed at the conclusion by Naismith as endorser. In fine condition, with two vertical folds, one touching his last name, and two green cancellation stamps. Accompanied by a letter from an E. G. Smith sent to Naismith referencing the return of the note and the original mailing envelope addressed to Naismith. Items signed by basketball’s founder continue to be highly prized by sports enthusiasts. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
