Immensely gifted composer, pianist, and arranger, Strayhorn (1915–1967) is best remembered as the composer of ‘Take the A Train’ and for his longtime association with Duke Ellington. DS, four pages, 8.5 x 13, April 4, 1956. Agreement between Strayhorn and Tempo Music, in which Strayhorn transfers all of his rights to his original song entitled ‘Upper Manhattan Medical Group.’ Strayhorn will receive a royalty of three cents for each printed piano copy of music sold, as well as 50% of the net receipts for player piano rolls, phonographs, and other mechanical reproductions, including its use in motion pictures. Boldly signed in fountain pen on the last page by Strayhorn. In fine condition, with two staples to top edge.
