Description

Scarce 1950s Coral Records promo card of Buddy Holly and the Crickets

Marvelous vintage circa late 1950s 3.5 x 5.75 Coral Records promo card for The Crickets, signed on the front in black ballpoint by Buddy Holly and Jerry Allison, and in blue ballpoint by Joe Mauldin. The reverse lists various singles for The Crickets and Buddy Holly. In fine condition, with very faint creasing to the lower right corner.

Issued at the height of The Crickets’ brief but transformative run, this promotional card dates to the period when Buddy Holly and the group were helping define the sound and image of early rock ’n’ roll with classics like “That’ll Be the Day,” “Oh, Boy!,” and “Maybe Baby.” Signed by Holly alongside bandmates Jerry Allison and Joe Mauldin, it represents the core trio behind some of the most influential recordings of the late 1950s, shortly before Holly’s death in February 1959.
