Description

Impressive 11 x 15 print of a sketched portrait of Franklin Delano Roosevelt done by Russian-American artist Jacob H. Perskie for the 1932 presidential campaign, signed prominently in fountain pen. Includes a TLS from Roosevelt's private secretary, Missy LeHand, dated November 17, 1936, White House letterhead, sent to Albert C. Richter, which reads, in part: “The President has received your letter of November twelfth and asks me to write you this note to express his thanks and to assure you of his appreciation of your fine cooperation. He has had pleasure in signing the enclosed photograph and requests me to send it to you with his best wishes.” Triple-matted and framed together to an overall size of 26.25 x 22.75. In overall fine condition, with a large crease to the portrait, passing through the first letter of Roosevelt's signature, and uniform toning to the LeHand letter.
