Twice-signed itinerary sheet for Neil Armstrong's December 5, 1991, visit to Carswell Air Force Base, one page, 8.5 x 11, signed and inscribed twice on the reverse by Armstrong in ballpoint, “To Ben – Neil Armstrong” and “To Leslie – Neil Armstrong.” Entitled "Tentative Itinerary for Neil Armstrong Visit 5 Dec 1991,” the production itinerary outlines Armstrong's full day of filming at Carswell AFB for his television series First Flights with Neil Armstrong, including his arrival at the flight line, B-52 mission profile, interviews with aircrew, and departure. In fine condition, with light creasing and a central horizontal fold.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, Benjamin Cook, a retired USAF Major who recounts meeting Armstrong while serving at Carswell Air Force Base as a young airman. According to Cook, after being invited into Armstrong's production van before filming began, a member of Armstrong's crew produced the day's itinerary when he realized he had nothing available for an autograph. Armstrong signed it to Cook and, after Cook jokingly asked if he would also sign for his girlfriend, the moonwalker graciously added a second personalized signature.
First Flights with Neil Armstrong was a three-season A&E documentary series, hosted by the Apollo 11 commander, that explored the history and evolution of aviation through historic aircraft, pioneering aviators, and contemporary flight operations.
