Recording agreement between Bell Records, a division of Columbia Pictures Industries, and comedian Rodney Dangerfield for the production of phonograph records. Under the terms of the contract, Dangerfield agreed to record exclusively for Bell Records for an initial one-year term, with the label retaining options to extend the agreement for four additional one-year periods. The agreement called for the release of one LP during the initial term, provided for a $3,500 advance upon execution, and established an 8% royalty on retail sales. Signed at the conclusion in ink by Rodney Dangerfield, who adds his approval initials to ten of the eleven pages. An attached appendix identifies eleven comedy routines intended for recording, including 'What's in a Name,' 'Someone's Gonna Get Hurt,' 'Get a Horse,' 'Lost,' 'Flying Southern Comfort,' 'The Gourmet,' 'Home Sweet Home,' 'My Neighborhood,' 'The Holdup,' 'Unhandy Husbands,' and 'That's Show Biz.’ An internal two-page breakdown attached to the front of the contract summarizes the principal business terms and bears a handwritten notation indicating that Bell Records elected not to exercise its option to renew the agreement.
