Description

Rare autograph of the eldest Brontë sister, whose Jane Eyre revolutionized English fiction

English author and poet (1816–1855), the eldest of the Brontë sisters, celebrated for her revolutionary novel Jane Eyre. Extremely desirable ink signature, "C. Brontë,” on an off-white 1.25 x .5 slip, handsomely double-matted and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 12.25 x 14.75. In fine condition.

A compelling autograph of one of English literature’s most influential figures, whose Jane Eyre challenged Victorian conventions through its fiercely independent heroine and intimate first-person voice. Brontë died at just 38, making authentic examples of her autograph quite scarce and highly prized by literary collectors.
