Description

Ink signature, "Andrew Jackson, Major Genl Comdg, D. of the South,” on an off-white 3.25 x 1 slip. In very good to fine condition, with irregular trimming, not affecting any of the handwriting. Jackson commanded the Division of the South after the War of 1812, a position he held from 1815 until his resignation from the U.S. Army in 1821. He was appointed commander of the Southern Division in 1815 following his victory at New Orleans and retained that title during the First Seminole War.
