Description

"You know how important the space program was to me"

TLS signed “L.B.J.,” one page, 7 x 8.75, personal letterhead, June 6, 1969. Letter to former NASA administrator James Webb: “Many thanks for your letter and for sending me John Logsdon's manuscript. Right now no one here has the time to read through it thoroughly and suggest possible changes. However, I'll be glad to keep it with me for a while and we will try to do it later. You know how important the space program was to me, Jim, and I want our plans and our policy to be presented accurately. I will be sorely disappointed, if after all the miles you are logging across the world, you do not find your way to the LBJ Ranch. I want to hear first-hand about all you are doing — let me know when you are free.” In very fine condition.

John M. Logsdon was a prominent space historian who would later found and direct George Washington University's Space Policy Institute, becoming one of the leading scholars of NASA and the Apollo program. The recipient, James E. Webb, served as NASA Administrator from 1961–1968 and was one of the principal architects of the Apollo program.
