Description

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Pennsylvania (1730–1779). Partly-printed DS, signed “Geo: Ross,” one page, 7.75 x 12.75, January 22, 1768. Colonial-era financial obligation executed by George Ross of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, acknowledging himself “held and firmly bound” to Baltimore merchants William Smith and James Sterrett in the sum of “Four Hundred & Fifteen Pounds & Six pence current Lawfull Money of Pennsylvania.” Signed at the conclusion by George Ross. In very good to fine condition, with paper loss to the right edge, tape repairs to the reverse, and partial separations to the horizontal folds.
