Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut (1731-1796) and seventh president of the Continental Congress. Partly-printed DS, signed “Sam'l Huntington,” one page, 12.5 x 7.5, May 26, 1794. As governor of Connecticut, Huntington appoints Andrew Huntington "to be Judge of our Court of Probate, to be holden within the District of Norwich.” Prominently signed at the conclusion by Governor Huntington and countersigned by George Wyllys. The embossed white paper seal remains affixed to the left side. In fine condition, with scattered light foxing. Andrew Huntington belonged to the same extended Norwich family as Governor Samuel Huntington, a clan that produced numerous military officers, merchants, judges, and statesmen during the founding period of the United States.
