American jazz trumpeter and vocalist (1908–1967) whose playing has been described as among the first to fully incorporate and extend the innovations introduced by Louis Armstrong, helping shape the development of modern jazz through his distinctive improvisational style and expressive musicianship. Vintage 7.5 x 10 program for a jazz performance by Henry ‘Red’ Allen and His All-Stars at Central Hall in Westminster, England, on May 1, 1964, signed on the opening page next to his likeness in ballpoint before switching to felt tip, “Henry Red Allen, Nice.” The signed page bears a stapled ticket stub for the concert. In very good condition, with folds, creasing, and pen trouble forcing Allen to switch pens for his last name after a failed first attempt. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.
